Twin Peaks - A Series Retrospective

Back in 2013, the USC film school put on a symposium on the TV series Twin Peaks.  Each week they would show approximately 3-4 episodes and then have a discussion with writers, directors, cast members and crew to discuss the show and their experiences.  At the end there would also be a Q&A.  I was lucky enough to attend the majority of the showings.  Below are some pictures from the events along with pictures of props from the series that were on display.  Unfortunately, with the lighting and being in cases, the quality was not the best or there were reflections.  Anyway, I thought any Twin Peaks fan would enjoy it.  It was like Christmas morning for me seeing some of the actors and crew members and listening to their stories.  Being able to see some of the props was just icing on the cake.  See more photos after the jump

S3 Ep1 - Part 2

Here's the next section of my short episode:

Not getting any response Truman breaks open the door.  Cooper, in his pajamas, lies on the floor.  The mirror above the sink is shattered with blood all over it and the sink.  Cooper smiles up at them strangely.

Cooper (smiling strangely):  I slipped and hit my head on the mirror.  The glass broke as it struck my head. (Laughs) It struck me as funny, Harry.  Do you understand me, Harry?  It struck me as funny.

Dr. Hayward:            You are going right back to bed.

Doc Hayward and Truman help Cooper up.

Cooper:          But I haven’t brushed my teeth yet.

Cooper smiles at the uneasy pair.

Dr. Hayward:            On second thought, we better get you to the hospital.  I don't want to take any chances.

Cooper:          Doc, I'm fine.  It's just a little blood.

S3 Ep1 - Part 1

As promised, here is my futile attempt at screenwriting 25 years ago.  Please be gentle in your comments....

TWIN PEAKS

Calhoun Memorial Hospital Emergency Ward.  Annie Blackburn is being brought in on a stretcher.  She is mumbling something incoherent to the nurse and paramedic.  The nurse talks to the paramedic.

Nurse:            What happened?

Paramedic:    I don’t know.  Sheriff Truman just brought her in from Glastonbury Grove.

In the Black Lodge.  The Man from Another Place, speaking slowly and deliberate, stands with Cooper.

Man:               Is it future?  Or is it past? ...  Do you know who I am? ...  I am           The Arm...   And I sound like this....

Thunderclap

Yesterday was a lot of fun posting tweets, retweeting other tweets and just seeing all of the fan support for our cause to get Showtime to wake up and do the right thing and get both David Lynch and Mark Frost involved in the new installment of the greatest TV series to ever be on TV.  I haven't seen any of the results to see even if we were able to get #SaveTwinPeaks trending.  If anyone reads this and has any results, please post them.

Twenty-five years ago when the series was brutally murdered by ABC and Robert Iger, don't even get me started on him and the network, I was going through withdrawals not having my weekly Peaks fix so I started writing my own continuing story.  I obviously didn't get far and could not even come close to David and Mark's brilliance, but for kicks I'll start posting some pages.  Any feedback is welcome, but remember it was 25 years ago and I'm no writer as you can probably tell from my writing in these posts.

#SaveTwinPeaks

Anyone that has stumbled onto my blog, you obviously are a fan of Twin Peaks and know the anticipated 3rd season in 2016 might not happen since David Lynch has pulled out of the project due to budget limitations.  This is very sad and there has been a public outcry by the loyal fans and even the original series cast members.  I encourage everyone to go on twitter, facebook, instagram or wherever else they can use to get the word out that this project has to happen, but only if both David Lynch and Mark Frost are involved.  There's a petition out there that I have signed and encourage everyone else to sign as well.  Here's the link to the petition Save Twin Peaks
